What Does Art Have To Do With Pre-Reading Skills?
Pablo Creek Branch joins libraries across the country, teaming up with parents and caregivers to foster the skills needed for reading success! The Every Child Ready to Read initiative has identified five key areas of early reading skills that are indicators of future reading success: Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing, and Playing. PCR uses ALL of these developmental skills at the library in their story times and family programs. Artwork featured in PCR's Children’s lobby showcase was created in the Family Art Time Program at PCR, demonstrating how children can learn pre-reading skills through drawing and writing activities.
