SOM Friends, Staff, & Customers Benefit Each Other

Christie Rogers shares, "SOM's Fall Festival combined with the Friends of the South Mandarin Library book sale, October 20, 2018, gave book lovers a thrill and 63 attendees painted pumpkins, which were purchased by the FOSOM.  Other crafts included face painting and glitter tattoos. Finally, we had a costume parade through the library and three candy stations were set up for the children's treats (instead of tricks.)  During the festivities attendees could purchase books from the book sale to benefit the library."

SOM Staff Recognize Friends of SOM

SOM had 45 participants in a special Friends of the South Mandarin Library Reception and Storytime recently. Joanna Nigrelli, YS Librarian II, said, "We had an enthusiastic group of storytime regulars and Friends of SOM participate in our Friends and Friendship themed storytime. 

"Recently, our Friends raised funds through their Book Sale to purchase interactive panels for our children’s area. Today’s celebration was in appreciation of their dedication to supporting the children and children’s programming at SOM."

Hooray For Friends of SOM

Thanks to Library Associate Christie Rogers for this photo of the new learning panels at the South Mandarin Library. The panels were purchased by the Friends of the South Mandarin Library for the Children’s Department. Christie said, "The panels will help children work on their fine motor skills and we are very grateful to the Friends of SOM for their support."

Friends of SOM Donate 'Frig From Their Book Sales!

SOM's Christie Rogers shares a picture of the  plaque that reads, “In gratitude from the Library Staff for the support of the Friends of the Library .”  Staff wanted to permanently show their appreciation for the refrigerator the Friends of the South Mandarin Library purchased for them with money from

the Friends' book sales.  Christie said, "The refrigerator is in our meeting room and is a great help for programs that include food and for groups using the room.  Right away, our summer worker, Raymond Anthony, stored some drinks to be served during  the movie ,The Good Dinosaur, which we showed today.  Drink refills take less steps and make happier customers.  YEA!

Friends of SOM's Book Sale A Big Success

Region Manager Keli Likins and staff were happy to see the turnout at South Mandarin Branch's Friends Booksale, June 17.  Keli said, "Between 10:00-1:00 today, 500 people had already attended the book sale!  The parking lot overflowed and the street and Walgreens next door were also full!  A huge success so far."
