Argyle Branch's Children's Department Makes Something Out Of Nothing

This close-up of a dog's face is part of an art project DeLon Rowan did for the Jax Reads Campaign, Call of the Wild, and was part of a Family Art Fun Program recently. Toddlers to eight year old children constructed their own individual interpretation of the sled-dog character, Buck, the main character in the book. Children learned about facial features and expressions using this three-dimensional design. Ms. Rowan always uses recycled materials in her art programs. In this case, shredded tires were used to create textural fur. Scrap poster board and used cups were used to create other features. Click on the picture for an enlargement that shows the intriguing details.
