SLP Ends At UPK As A Super Success

UPK Manager Theresa Rooney is proud of her staffs' accomplishments, "Summer Learning may have ended, but it’s been a busy August so far at the University Park Branch. The Superheroes Cityscape backdrop on the wall was created by my daughter, Emily Matchett, and the Superhero capes were handmade by Library Clerk and master seamstress Rosalin Smalls.

Twenty young Superhero Readers posed in front of the Superheroes Cityscape backdrop in the Children’s Department wearing a Superhero cape at a special photo op on August 6.

Associate Carol Bunker, who had just finished a day of interning in SST, dished up the ice cream and cake and supervised musical chairs."

"Also on August 6, UPK teens celebrated a successful end to the Unmask! Summer Learning Programs for Teens as well as the end of our Summer Learning 'Reading Buddies' program, which paired teen volunteers with younger children for reading, discussion and related activities for an hour each week, with an ice cream social. Library Associate Mina Figuerrez (below) and new Library Associate Carol Bunker, who had just finished a day of interning in SST, dished up the ice cream and cake and supervised musical chairs."
