Main Library – Nonfiction: I really
appreciate the courteous response to my telephone calls to your library. Thank
you very much for your kind assistance, Mr. Jim Burns, and Catherine
(Currier) in the Special Collections Department.
Main Library – Reference and Periodicals:
I was so impressed with the online services at your library. I was in
contact with Ed (Lein) by phone and online requesting a
specific article from the March 14, 1976 edition of The Florida
Times-Union. He sent me the requested info in less than 24 hours. Kudos to
Ed and the Jacksonville Public Library.
Southeast Branch: Anita Haller, Children's
Librarian at the SE, came to our school yesterday to
share books, stories, and book talks with our students from grades K-5 as part
of our Celebrate Literacy Week. She was delightful and the students
enjoyed her presentation immensely. Anita has always been so willing
to work with us at our school, truly bridging the connection between public and
school libraries. She exemplifies the spirit of igniting the fire of
reading and learning in children. Anita serves on our SAC Board, and she
has been instrumental in organizing an event we're all looking forward
to. In March, our school is going to participate in the SE
Regional JokeFEST, hosted by our own Greenfield Elementary School. We
hope to have a large number of students participate by choosing, preparing,
practicing, and delivering jokes and riddles at the JokeFEST. What a
wonderful way to encourage reluctant readers and speakers to get up in
front of a group and use their reading and presentation skills they
have acquired! Humor is truly a motivational tool to encourage and
engage reluctant readers. I just want to
thank you for allowing Ms. Haller to come to our school. She is a
treasure to us, and, I'm sure, to you, too. The public
sector benefits from her expertise and dedication both in the public
library and the public elementary school.
Murray Hill: Raymond Neal is
the best.
University Park Branch: Hazzel
(Sutton) is very good in answering the questions. It was a pleasure!
