Councilman Clay Yarborough Reads To Families at Regency Square Branch

On Thursday, May 28, City Councilman Clay Yarborough read stories to a group of excited families at the Regency Square Branch Library’s Family Story Time program.

“He was fun and very engaging. He included the parents and seemed to be having a great time,” stated Senior Librarian Lanette Jackson, who hosts the monthly program at her branch.

Councilman Yarborough’s interactive style made Dr Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham come alive for the listeners. “I was impressed by the way he incorporated concrete concepts such as numbers and colors into the stories. He is definitely no amateur at reading children's stories,” said Ms. Jackson.

The Councilman also chose another book from the collection to read. However, as he opened the book, the audience and Councilman found themselves glaring at a slight tape repair that had been made to one of the pages. A lighthearted chuckle ensued from both the audience and Councilman as Ms. Jackson announced, “The library always needs more money for books.”
The program included a craft and movie. Ms. Jackson plans to invite Councilman Yarborough to return for an encore presentation.
