April Town Hall Meetings
What are Town Hall meetings? Town Hall meetings are scheduled periodically by the Library Director to give all staff members an opportunity to learn more about the Library, get to know senior staff and to ask questions. They also give the Director and her staff an opportunity to know about issues that are important to you!
How do I participate? Let you manager know if you are interested in attending and he/she will accomodate attendance by as many people as possible. Even if you aren't able to attend, you'll be able to read notes from the meetings on the blog. Remember, you can submit your questions ahead of time by clicking on the "comments" button below. (Comments can be anonymous.)

Are the reporting changes for the small branches and regionals temporary or is this a permanent change due to the budget?
The news is reporting that some State agencies are considering reducing hours and/or pay; or forcing 2-week closings. This scares me. Is JPL considering any of these? Thank you
Does it look like we will have to cut our operating hours next year? What does our 09/10 budget look like?
How are the staff at smaller branches, who are dealing with the uncertainty of whether there will be cuts in hours and possible transfers (to who knows what branch working in who knows what department), supposed to keep up morale and a positive attitude in the coming months while co-workers at larger branches do not have to worry about the security of their positions?
Now that we know state funding has not been cut, do we still need to worry about cuts in hours and transfers/layoffs? Are those still possibilities due to cuts in the city budget?
Also, has the library ever considered remedying budget problems by charging customers to "rent" the newest DVD's as other library systems do? What's worse, customers who have to pay a dollar to "rent" a brand-new DVD (that they are quite likely to tear up anyway) or laying off a library employee and ruining his or her life?
Also, if things get desperate, what about an across the board 1% pay cut?
