Kudos From Customers

Eastside Branch, SST, Main-Training & Special Collections: I would like to thank Shawn Norton, Lynn Jacobson, Kathleen Krizek and Tracy Pigott for the time they spent helping me with the Overdrive download on my Kindle Fire. What a fantastic group of people.

Main – Conference Center & Security: Dear Sir, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how much we enjoyed working with Will Daniels. Will is the epitome of professional. He was right there on top of everything at all times. He directed his team like a pro and the set up for my daughter’s wedding was perfect. Even with everything he had going, he patiently listened to our requests and took great care of us. He provided us with information and diagrams... We were extremely relieved to have been allowed to bring our arbor and the reception decorations …It took a lot of the stress off of my family. I also wanted to commend your security staff. These folks kept guard over our things so that we could come and go as needed. If you hold each of your conference specialists to Will's high standards you will never have a bad review. We love Will! He made our event a success....

Mandarin Branch: I just wanted to say how much my family and I appreciate the children's staff at the Mandarin Branch. My children love Mr. David Foster; we have never met a more friendly, attentive librarian who clearly loves his job and the children! He makes going to the library very pleasurable and exciting. The other ladies (Frances Wickes & Isabel Santiago-Moreno) are super nice and helpful as well. We appreciate the time they take to help us find different types of subject books and even letting my son help shelve books. The patience and friendliness of the staff is just above and beyond what we've experienced and we really want to say thank you.

Pablo Creek Branch & Others: …I would like to thank you for all the hard work you and all your library staff members do on a regular basis …I frequently visit PCR because I am enrolled in a Master's of Leadership Program and this branch is close to where I reside. I have had the opportunity to visit a few other branches and everyone has always been so attentive and helpful but PCR is my favorite because of all of your library employees, cleanliness, organization, and large variety of resources. I would like to recognize one of your employees, Mr. Jason Enoex. Mr. Enoex always goes above and beyond to assist library members. …I was about to leave the library and decided I wanted to check out a book. Mr. Enoex went out of his way, knowing the library was closing within five minutes, and looked in every section to see if the book was available for check out. Unfortunately, the book was just a reference book and was not allowed to leave the library. Mr. Enoex always has a smile on his face and is willing to go out of his way to serve others. He is a kind and respectful individual that has a "servant's heart". The world would be a better place if we had more people like him working with the public. He always assists me and other library members with resources or technical issues regarding computers. He is never too busy to help. Mr. Enoex is an asset to the PCR branch. I hope that there is a way that he can be recognized for his diligence and commitment to PCR and library members. …

South Mandarin Branch: Angela (Richman) showed me how to use Brainfuse to get help with my translation. I appreciate that this resource helped me with my tradition. Angela was very professional in everything. Thank you so much ; It was an excellent experience.

THREE STAFF HONORED AT CW

In December, Deputy Director Julie McNeil presented service pins to Kristi Dorney (middle in pic) for 20 years at JPL; Cassy Manning (left) for five service years; and Helena Davenport for five years serving JPL. Kristi received a congratulatory letter from Mayor Curry, and Cassy and Helena each received a letter of appreciation from Director Tim Rogers. Cassy, Kristi, and Helena also enjoyed a socially-distanced party given in their honor. All of us send our thanks, too, for your years with the library.

MR. MOSELEY: CONGRATS ON 20 YEARS & A JOB WELL DONE!

DON'T NEED TO BE A DUMMY; JUST READ BOOKS FOR DUMMIES

PT shelver with help from Teen Associate Beverly Mason created a “I thought you said Mummy…No I said Book for Dummies” display to transition to fall/Halloween and highlight DU’s For Dummies series of books on a variety of topics. DU Manager Eric Soriano added, “There’s also a new ‘Interactive chess display’ by Librarian Benjamin Smith. Books and DVDs are available for checkout while customers enjoy actually playing the game. Ben is also planning to offer possible chess classes.”

LIGHT BULB GOES OFF IN CREATIVE DECKER'S HEAD

YS Asociate Decker Cavosie hosted EB’s first “Minute to Win It,” April 9, 2019, where 15 teens competed in various challenges under a 60 second time limit. Participants discussed strategies and difficulties throughout the program and exhibited creative problem-solving to gain advantages. Each month at the end of the program, the teen with the most points writes their name on the “Minute to Win It Undisputed Championship” belt Decker made. The belt will be displayed until the following month when the reigning champion will defend their title.

JANICE ADAMS CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS W/JPL

Library Associate Janice Adams received her 5 year service pin from Webb Region Manager Lynne Baldwin, January 31, 2018, along with a letter from Library Director Tim Rogers thanking and commending Janice for her service to JPL, the City and the community. Staff at Webb surprised Janice with not one but two cakes, a card, a bouquet of flowers and a gift card. Branch Manager Kathy Tekin joined Lynne to say, "Congratulations to you, Janice, for 5+ years of outstanding service to the Jacksonville community."

A Thank You From Denise Thomas

To the JPL Family: I wish to thank each and every one of you for your caring responses during my time of need. For those who were not aware, time was needed for surgery and recovery from breast cancer. I want you to know that all donated leave, words of encouragement, random acts of kindness and those beautiful smiles are appreciated.

I am a breast cancer survivor as a result of God’s Grace and an early detection of the cancer. May I suggest that each of you, if you have not already done so, take time to schedule health screenings of any kind knowing that these can be lifesaving methods for you.

To God be the glory for the things he has done. I am now free of cancer and want to say again that I appreciate what you did for me. Not knowing who my time donors were, I am not able to give individual hugs; collectively to the JPL Family I say THANK YOU a million times over.

SANTA AND KIDS AT MAIN

Main's Children’s departmemt had a jolly great time with Old Saint Nick this year. We handed out jingle bells, read a sleigh ride picture book and, of course, sang the Jingle Bells song. Next, resident elf, Carisia Rooney, took over and kept the line smiling as they waited to verify that indeed, Santa’s whiskers were real and so was his tummy! Afterward, Jonathan Sandbach held a bell-decorating class (complete with glitter) so the kids could take some of the holiday fun home with them.

Denise is a Literacy Program Specialist in the Center for Adult Learning, located on the Conference level of the Main Library. She has done so much good for the community beside all the wonderful things she does for children in her position with JPL.
