I Meant To Do My Work Today

JPL's Ed Lein, a librarian at  Main, schedules and is a big proponent for "Music at Main".  He wrote the music for a song, published in May 2013, which was arranged for trumpet and piano. The poem is by Richard Le Gallianne (1892, public domain).  Ed wanted to share it with you, so click on the link:

I Meant To Do My Work Today

I meant to do my work today—
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand—
So what could I do but laugh and go?

We can all relate to this little ditty at one time or another, Ed, and on weekends and vacation is not a bad thing to do.
