NW Friends' Black History Program Popular

The Bradham Brooks NW Branch Friends of the Library held a “Celebration of Love, An African-American Experience,” on February 20, 2013, in the community room. The room was decorated with hearts, lighted candles atop red and pink tablecloths. The program involved poetry readings by various Friends members and Branch Manager Elaine Randolph (pictured below), dances by the “Sassy Seniors & Steppers”, all dressed out in black and red, and storytelling by former JPL employee Elaine Kitchens and Friends member Mary Webster. One of Bradham Brooks NW Branch partners, Well Care, set up a table exhibiting information for seniors on Medicare. Approximately 45 attended and enjoyed the refreshments and prizes were awarded to happy faces.
