Southeast Branch Customer Had A Special Need Quickly Resolved

Who says you can't have a hot time at the library? This comment was recently proven at the Southeast Library on Thursday, August 13. At around 12:45 p.m., a customer notified our circulation staff that a car in the parking lot was smoking and was emitting a strong burning odor. Investigation revealed a white automobile in the beginning stages of conflagration. Once the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was called and arrived, the engine compartment of the car was engulfed in flames. Resolving this event was all in a day's work for the firefighters. Much to the relief of the onlookers and owners of the vehicles in the vicinity, the flames were extinguished in short order. So much for the idea that libraries are not exciting places to be.
