Congratulations to E-Specialist Randy Mapanoo the first
recipient of an SST Owly. The Owly, given to SST staff from
SST staff, is given to someone who deserves an extra pat on the back or someone
who deserves special recognition. Randy was selected because he “always
goes the extra mile in supporting the e-volunteers assigned to his branches. He
is likewise enthusiastic in working with the rest of the team in making a
number of programs successful…Additionally, Randy has also been
instrumental with the smooth transition of new computer classes in Spanish at
UPK and PCR. He has assisted some of our customers from these classes in
one-on-one appointments with translation help from our new part-time staff
(Flory) who has also benefited with Randy’s informal mentoring. ..... The second Owly was given to Cynthia Byrd.
Cynthia was nominated because she “has stepped up and taken over the duties of the
Staff Association. Getting those registrations filled out and collecting the
money is a great example of 'stepping up and helping out'.” Congratulations Cynthia!

Van Hoy and Lynne Baldwin helped a customer Get to Yes by helping with her
Carnival Cruise Line reservations. A customer was so pleased with
their service that she gave them a dozen yellow roses with the
following note attached: "Thank you, so very
much for helping us with our cruise papers. You are so sweet. Frances Conrad "
Thanks to JB's Therese Welch for sending this in, "Random

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of me as I experienced (and continue to experience) the loss of my parents. The pats, the hugs, the cards and the desk coverages, and just all the ways you’ve expressed your condolences. It has meant a great deal to me and I appreciate all of you.
Sincerely,
Martha Smith
SST's Eric Soriano, E-Services Librarian III, and Integrated Library Systems Librarian III Alisha LeVasseur received the City's Platinum Award in the Go365 Wellness Program, May 17, 2017, and congratulatory emails from Bob Blanco, Wellness Committee Chairman.

I would like to thank everyone who donated leave to me during my absence. I wish I could thank each of you personally, but unfortunately I am unable to know the names of all who donated time. So, I just would like to say thank you so much; it really means a lot to me.
With much love and appreciation,
To the JPL Family: I wish to thank each and every one of you for your caring responses during my time of need. For those who were not aware, time was needed for surgery and recovery from breast cancer. I want you to know that all donated leave, words of encouragement, random acts of kindness and those beautiful smiles are appreciated.
I am a breast cancer survivor as a result of God’s Grace and an early detection of the cancer. May I suggest that each of you, if you have not already done so, take time to schedule health screenings of any kind knowing that these can be lifesaving methods for you.
To God be the glory for the things he has done. I am now free of cancer and want to say again that I appreciate what you did for me. Not knowing who my time donors were, I am not able to give individual hugs; collectively to the JPL Family I say THANK YOU a million times over.
Denise Thomas, JPL’s Center for Adult Learning at Main.
Thank you to everyone who donated leave to me while I was on FMLA. It means so much to me to know you donated your leave to me to help make my recovery a little less stressed. I wanted to send a personal thank you to all of you but TAS only has the names of the employees whose leave they used for me. Please know that I appreciate the leave donation and all the good thoughts and vibes sent my way.
Thank you.
