Margaret's husband, Don, is a physician. She is a proud aunt of grown nieces, Mary and Kris, and she and Don are excited about their planned visit with them and their families in Ocean City, MD, in late July.
There were better days ahead:
This EPIC Summer Learning Program, Tuesday, June 21, got things rolling at the Regency Square Library with the school-age
mini-series, Art in Action. Twenty-four kids learned about the “athlete with a
paintbrush,” Jackson Pollock, and then created their own abstract paintings
using marbles. Camara Bragdon, AR's Youth Services Librarian II said, "I used baking pans because it was easier to contain the paint and marbles and tin foil to line the pans assured no leaks and it made clean up easy. The kids also took their artwork home in the pans. (Thanks, Camara, for the pic and blurb.)
Special Collections Librarian III Kathleen Krizek granted her Library Assistant Betty Person (pictured left) for the Job Well Done Award, June 22. Kathleen said, "Betty works well with members of the
department and Grand Reading Room staff. She shares information
with supervisors about facilities and customer concerns. Betty doesn’t
have the opportunity for flashy projects, but she’s dependable and
an asset to the department."
Main Children's department kicked off their EPIC Summer, June 16. Nicole Evans said, "With so many fun things to do, an hour wasn't nearly long enough. We encouraged everyone to
come back for more fun each week!”
Teen Library Associate Alison Pulley (right) received her "Job Well Done"
award, June 15, for her Art Club programs at Mandarin Library. The
award was presented by her supervisor, Librarian II Stacey Van Hoy.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of me as I experienced (and continue to experience) the loss of my parents. The pats, the hugs, the cards and the desk coverages, and just all the ways you’ve expressed your condolences. It has meant a great deal to me and I appreciate all of you.
Sincerely,
Martha Smith
SST's Eric Soriano, E-Services Librarian III, and Integrated Library Systems Librarian III Alisha LeVasseur received the City's Platinum Award in the Go365 Wellness Program, May 17, 2017, and congratulatory emails from Bob Blanco, Wellness Committee Chairman.
Director Barbara Gubbin and all of us applaud you, Eric and Alisha.
I would like to thank everyone who donated leave to me during my absence. I wish I could thank each of you personally, but unfortunately I am unable to know the names of all who donated time. So, I just would like to say thank you so much; it really means a lot to me.
With much love and appreciation,
To the JPL Family: I wish to thank each and every one of you for your caring responses during my time of need. For those who were not aware, time was needed for surgery and recovery from breast cancer. I want you to know that all donated leave, words of encouragement, random acts of kindness and those beautiful smiles are appreciated.
I am a breast cancer survivor as a result of God’s Grace and an early detection of the cancer. May I suggest that each of you, if you have not already done so, take time to schedule health screenings of any kind knowing that these can be lifesaving methods for you.
To God be the glory for the things he has done. I am now free of cancer and want to say again that I appreciate what you did for me. Not knowing who my time donors were, I am not able to give individual hugs; collectively to the JPL Family I say THANK YOU a million times over.
Denise Thomas, JPL’s Center for Adult Learning at Main.
Thank you to everyone who donated leave to me while I was on FMLA. It means so much to me to know you donated your leave to me to help make my recovery a little less stressed. I wanted to send a personal thank you to all of you but TAS only has the names of the employees whose leave they used for me. Please know that I appreciate the leave donation and all the good thoughts and vibes sent my way.
Thank you.
